Midway Yurt
Enchanted Forest offers stunning vistas along meandering forest trails for hiking and mountain biking.
PLEASE read all information carefully before booking!
Full disclosure: This yurt was damaged when a tree fell on it. We repaired all the wood and taped the walls (see photo) and we put a swimming pool tarp on the roof to keep it dry. The exterior is not pretty (yet), but the interior is spacious and nice!
It is a relatively easy 1-mile hike (or bike) to the Midway Yurt (at around 9,800 feet). This yurt serves as a “warming yurt” for skiers and snowshoers in the wintertime. For summer visitors, there are four full futon sofa beds and two twin fold-out beds. For additional guests, we have two fold out twin floor mattresses or guests can use pads on the floor.
This is CAMPING, not a hotel room. There is no running water, electricity, room or maid service. A wood stove provides heat. You must provide your own sleeping bag (at least 45º or colder rating recommended), pillow and food. Please pack your gear for your yurt stay with this in mind.
Heat is provided by a wood stove, with firewood provided. It can still get cold overnight, but not as cold as in a tent. You must provide your own sleeping bag (at least 30º or colder rating recommended), pillow, food, and transport (hike or mountain bike) to the yurt (we provide a wagon).
Unlike our other yurt listings, this yurt is not insulated and is only available for use when there is no snow on the ground. The yurt can be WARM from solar gain during the day and chilly at night, even with the wood-burning stove.
We provide some water (at least 15 gallons), but it is always a good idea to bring some with you. Also provided: Kitchen items, pots, pans, plates, silverware, etc. and a stove and lantern. (Our yurt instructions offer a more comprehensive list.)
