What is a yurt?

Modern yurts, reminiscent of tents used by nomads on the steppes of Mongolia and Siberia, are round tents on a sturdy wooden frame with circular skylights and windows to provide illumination.

PLEASE read all information carefully before booking!

Enchanted Forest offers stunning vistas along meandering forest trails. All yurts are accessible only by cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Our yurts are semi-primitive, but comfortable, and feature:

  • Comfortable beds and futon sofa beds;
  • Pillows, flat sheets and pillowcases;
  • Hammock;
  • Wood stove for heat with firewood;
  • Dining table and chairs;
  • Kitchen area with some cooking supplies and a three-burner propane cook stove;
  • Propane lantern’
  • Port-A-Potty.

This is still camping in a tent, not a hotel room. There is no room or maid service. Heat is provided by a wood stove (wood provided). It can get cold overnight. You must provide your own sleeping bag (at least 15° F or colder rating recommended), food, and transport (cross country ski or snowshoe) to the yurt

Kitchen items, pots, pans, plates, silverware etc. and a stove and lantern are provided in the yurt. See complete yurt instructions (available after booking) for a more comprehensive list.

Gear Pulk

In winter, one gear pulk (57″x20″x19″) is provided with your yurt rental, however, you can also pay us to haul your gear* out to the yurt. This is ideal for guests with two-or-more-night stays, heavy packers, groups of four or more, or families with members who cannot carry their own pack.

Even with gear delivery, however, guests must still pack no more than what will fit in a snowmobile trailer (approx. 32″ x 68″ x 12″ or about the size of a normal-size bathtub).

Cost is $50 for one load (out and back). When making your online reservation, look for the “Gear Delivery” option. Please arrange for your gear shuttle prior to your arrival. Last-minute gear shuttles may not be accommodated.

The 20-foot Glade Yurt can accommodate up to 8 people and is 0.2 mile out from the base area (where you will park). Newly rebuilt after the Dec. 15, 2021 windstorm, this is the only “dog friendly” yurt during ski season.

The 20-foot Latir Yurt can accommodate up to 8 people and is 0.7 mile out from the base area.

The 16-foot Little John Yurt can accommodate up to 6 people and is located 1.25 miles.

The 20-foot Long John Yurtcan accommodate up to 8 people and is 2.25 miles out.
